Project Overview

UJU Novel is a next-generation mobile application for reading and publishing digital novels and eBooks. Designed for both independent authors and passionate readers, the platform emphasizes community building, reader engagement, and content privacy.

Allwork Studio was responsible for the UX/UI design of the mobile app, ensuring the experience was not only user-friendly and visually appealing, but also practical for writers and supportive of monetization features.

UX/UI Design Strategy

We designed the app to be clean, immersive, and customizable — putting the reader’s comfort first while still enabling fan-author interaction.

Key design goals included:

• A reader-first experience: Customizable text size, font type, line spacing, and background color to support long-form reading
• Progress tracking: Automatically remembers where the user left off in every novel
• Community features: Allow authors to create their own space, engage fans, and run exclusive activities or updates
• In-app currency system: Readers can purchase “coins” to unlock premium chapters or purchase full eBooks
• Privacy protection: Prevents screen capture of paid or private content to protect intellectual property

The interface was designed with modern, soft visuals that support long reading sessions without fatigue, with clear calls-to-action and intuitive flows for both authors and readers.

• Custom Reading Settings: Adjustable font, size, spacing, and background modes (light/dark/sepia)
• Secure Content Management: Prevents unauthorized screenshotting or content sharing
• Author Pages & Fan Clubs: Create private communities, offer updates, and reward loyal readers
• E-book Marketplace: Allows authors to list, sell, and promote their novels directly
• Coin-Based Monetization System: In-app wallet and purchase flow for unlocking chapters
